Kevin Gates was released from prison earlier this month. Unfortunately, it wasn't the Baton Rouge rapper's first time behind bars. In 2014, he discussed with DJ Vlad about catching his first charges as a teen and why imprisonment can do more harm than good. He revealed that he was influenced by people who were doing the wrong things and ended up getting arrested for the first time at the age of 13 for stealing and that he received his first juvenile charge at 15 for aggravated assault and wasn't released until two years later.

Gates says that spending those two years in juvie took his fear of imprisonment away and that many kids in the state of Louisiana have no outlet except the streets.
