The debate about Conor McGregor’s future began as soon as he agreed to fight boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather for the largest payday of his career. After reportedly making somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 million, the uncertainty about McGregor’s future makes sense considering the risks associated with the sport of mixed martial arts. UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley does not believe that McGregor will ever return to the octagon, citing his enormous payday after fighting Money Mayweather.

“I never thought he was coming back. I said it all along. When he go and fight for 60 to 110 million dollars, whatever in the middle he actually made. When you fight for that type of money. You’re gonna get him to come back and fight the match-ups that are most challenging to him? You’re not gonna do it.”

Woodley may have a point, even though he may be trying to lure McGregor out of limbo. After making $100 million in a single fight, it would be difficult to Convince McGregor to fight a far tougher opponent for significantly less money. McGregor has also been making headlines outside the ring for allegedly fighting in bars and pushing referees so we’ll see how this plays out.
