The doctor at the center of allegations made by numerous prolific members of the gymnastics community who say that he molested them when they were minors, has admitted to performing the acts. Dr. Larry Nassar pleaded guilty to multiple counts of sexual assault in a Michigan courtroom on Wednesday morning, November 22.

The former Michigan State University physician and USA women's gymnastics team doctor of two decades has been awaiting sentencing for federal child pornography charges, while accusations of sexual misconduct from such former Olympians as Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, and most recently, Gabby Douglas, have continued to mount. While the discovery of thousands of illegal images on a computer he disposed of, forced Nassar to cede to the child porn charges earlier this month, he has up until this week denied claims of sexual assault from over 130 women.

During Wednesday's hearing, Nassar settled on a plea agreement that will put him behind bars from anywhere between 25 and 40 years for his admission of abuse involving seven underage girls. Three of the girls in question hadn't reached their 13th birthday when Nassar reportedly penetrated them with ungloved fingers during medical examinations that took place between 1998 and 2015.

Nassar's sentencing date is scheduled for January 12.
