Piers Morgan has written a lengthy op-ed in The Daily Mail that has sent the internet into a tailspin. He defends white people singing the "n" word in songs, using Kanye West's 12-year-old hit, "Gold Digger" as his target.

This all began Tuesday. That's when a video of Alpha Phi sorority members at the University of New Hampshire singing was heard singing the song, including the slur, at a party. It gained traction when it was shared on the Facebook page "All Eyes on UNH," a page that aims to expose injustices. The post said in part, "This is a showcase of ignorance and that the Panhellenic Council should do better in combating racism. The first step is addressing willful ignorance. #RacistUNH."

Morgan seems to think it's unfair to brand the group of girls as racist just because they were singing a Grammy-award winning song. He also claims to understand the hurtful origins of the word "n****r." However, he says he sees no difference between the former and its derivative, "n***a." Morgan rounds out his article by saying he thinks the "n" word should be banished in all its forms. He goes on to say he doesn't think the sorority girls should be punished (According to The Union Leader, they won't. They have apologized.) but, instead, Kanye West is to blame for penning the song and using the word continuously.

What do you think about the incident and Morgan's opinion?
