The Giants have been reluctant to put Jason Pierre-Paul back on the field after he lost an index finger and injured his thumb and middle finger in a July 4th fireworks accident this year, but that's not dampening the defensive end's spirits.

Pierre-Paul posted a 14-minute workout video of him donning Giants gear while running with weights tied around his waist. He captioned the clip, "God can turn any situation around for the better," he wrote. "your hard times will lead to the best times of your life. Don't believe the hype ... Be back soon! #90PC #ImAFighter #PutMeInCoach."

The post came after ESPN reported that the Florida-native underwent surgery to repair his middle finger three days before the Giants doctors examined his hand last week. Sources close to Pierre-Paul told ESPN that he's convinced that he'll be playing soon, while a Giants source said that the team's doctors aren't planning to see the athlete for five to six weeks. The source also added that if Pierre-Paul's hand isn't healing to their satisfaction, they may consider repealing his $14.81 million franchise tender.

The newly released video doesn't show a close up of the athlete's hand, but his missing index finger and bandaged hand are visible. Check out the footage above.
