The bounty violations that the New Orleans Saints and head coach Sean Payton carried out have finally caught up with them. Commissioner Roger Goodell issued penalties to the organization, but those involved appealed. Earlier today, the league denied their appeals which means that Payton will be suspended for the year.

League officials clarified the full extent of Payton's penalties.

He is "not allowed to engage in any coaching activities. Roger (Goodell) commented on that at the league meeting press conference, saying he's not naïve enough to think there won't be some contact but (Payton's) not allowed to coach from home ... If a player has a baby, can he call to congratulate him? I don't think we're going to worry about that, or have a wire tap on his phone."

The team collectively was fined $500,000 and also suffered the loss of two second-round draft picks.

Head coach Sean Payton will not be able to have football related contact with his team until after the Super Bowl, which will ironically be held in New Orleans at the Superdome.
