Cosmetic surgery just took a turn into the other realm.

The insurgence of movies like Lord of the Rings and Star Trek have prompted teens to alter their appearances after their favorite elf, hobbit or vulcan. By slicing the cartilage in the upper ear and sewing it together in a point "body modification artists" are able to recreate the unique look. The surgery only takes about 20 minutes, but the artists aren't licensed professionals, so they don't have access to anesthesia. Sounds painful, but teens and adults alike are shelling out $600 to have the surgery in the name of elfin love!
