Part 1: G.Dep on Growing Up in Harlem During Crack Era, Selling Drugs as a Teen
--------
In this VladTV interview, Harlem rapper G. Dep reflects on life after Bad Boy Records, Black Rob’s 2006 arrest, and the period leading up to his 2010 independent album *Ghetto Legend*. Speaking with Vlad, the former Bad Boy artist explains why a decades-old shooting weighed on him for years and how guilt, uncertainty, and the need for accountability pushed him to walk into a police precinct and confess to a 17-year-old cold case murder.
G. Dep discusses not knowing whether the victim had survived, why he didn’t simply investigate the case privately, and how he viewed the difference between “street” conflicts and harming someone he didn’t know. The conversation also touches on possible legal outcomes, statute of limitations questions, and the emotional burden behind one of hip-hop’s most unusual true crime stories.
Featuring: G. Dep, DJ Vlad, Bad Boy Records, Black Rob, *Ghetto Legend*.
