Part 1: Medellin Cartel Co-Founder Carlos Lehder on Meeting Boston George in Prison

In this VladTV segment, Carlos Lehder recounts how his relationship with “Boston George” Jung grew from a prison connection into a cocaine trafficking operation targeting the United States in the mid-1970s. Lehder says George used furloughs to Massachusetts to move copies of his federal sentence and indictment to contacts in California, helping convince financiers that a Colombian smuggler could supply a market paying up to $70,000 per kilo. Boston George also describes learning the value of cocaine while flying out of Mexico and realizing he could build a route into America.
Lehder explains how profits were tied to cars bought in the U.S., shipped to Medellín, Colombia, and sold through his dealership, Later Autos. He also details how that business led him to meet Pablo Escobar’s cousin, who eventually introduced him to Escobar himself.
