Max B sits down with VladTV to discuss his upbringing in Harlem, his rise in music, his relationships with Jim Jones and French Montana, and the legal case that ultimately cost him nearly 18 years of his life.
Max reflects on growing up in the Abraham Lincoln Houses and spending much of his childhood in the Hawthorne group home, where he says structure and organized activities helped shape him. He also opens up about losing his older brother Eric and how that tragedy affected him at a young age.
The conversation then turns to Max's music career, including signing with Jim Jones in the mid-2000s and contributing to Diary of a Summer. He discusses the development of his signature melodic style, his chemistry with French Montana, and how projects like Coke Wave helped build momentum for both artists. Max also talks about his versatility and the response to newer music following his release.
A major portion of the interview focuses on the robbery case involving Gina Conway and Pooh Sims. Max explains his role in the planning while maintaining that he was not present for the violence or murder that occurred. After initially receiving a 75-year sentence, he describes the post-conviction process that eventually led to a new plea agreement and a reduced 20-year sentence.
Max was released in 2025 after serving approximately 17 years and 10 months. He reflects on returning home, rebuilding his career, and preparing new projects including Wavy Pain, while adjusting to a music industry that changed dramatically during his incarceration.
