Part 4: Clark Fredericks on Getting Charged with 1st Degree Murder for Killing Childhood Abuser
Part 1: Clark Fredericks on Getting Molested by Boy Scout Leader for Years Starting at Age 12
--------
Clark Fredericks sits down with Vlad to recount the legal battle that followed the killing of Dennis Pegg, a law enforcement officer he says molested him as a child. Initially charged with first-degree murder in New Jersey, Fredericks spent three years in county jail as prosecutors investigated both the homicide and allegations against Pegg. He explains why he rejected “queen for the day” talks, how psychiatric reports shaped a passion-provocation argument, and why he accepted a plea to second-degree manslaughter, receiving a five-year sentence with time served.
Fredericks also discusses co-defendant Bob Reynolds, prison life at Trenton’s CRAF and Northern State Prison in Newark, his 2016 release, and his path into advocacy. He later spoke at Centenary College, worked to change New Jersey’s child sexual abuse lawsuit window to age 55, filed a Boy Scouts claim, and released his memoir, *Scarred*.
