Part 1: Corrupt Sheriff Kyle Overmyer: I Had 30 Snitches Working for Me While I Was Undercover Cop

--------

Kyle Overmyer made history as Ohio’s youngest sheriff at age 34, overseeing a $4 million budget, over 100 employees, and an entire jail. But behind the badge, Overmyer struggled deeply after being diagnosed with severe arthritis in 2010. Prescribed high doses of Vicodin for pain, he quickly developed an addiction. The pressure of his job worsened his mental health, especially after involvement in a fatal shooting and tragic drowning incidents.

Trying to manage his pain and stress, Overmyer began "doctor shopping" and manipulated the jail’s medical staff to obtain stronger opioids like OxyContin. His addiction led him to steal prescriptions from family members and even from police drug take-back boxes intended for safe disposal. Overmyer’s story reveals the devastating toll addiction can take, even on those sworn to uphold the law.
