Scarpa Jr. recounted how he first heard the moniker around 1991 while incarcerated. Despite being behind bars, he stayed informed through calls with his father, who candidly shared details of ongoing hits. Scarpa Sr.’s violence peaked after an assassination attempt failed in November 1991, when he and family members narrowly escaped a gun attack outside their home.
Gregory Jr. confirmed his father’s direct involvement in multiple killings, including the slaying of mobsters loyal to Orena. He noted Scarpa Sr. even shot a rival while hanging Christmas lights. These ruthless acts solidified the elder Scarpa’s deadly reputation within Mafia history.
