In a revealing interview with VladTV, Omi in a Hellcat detailed how he built a massive streaming platform that distributed pirated content to over a million users. Starting from selling DVDs, Omi transitioned to digital piracy through jailbroken Amazon Fire Sticks loaded with customized “builds”—compilations of apps like Kodi that streamed popular movies and TV shows illegally. His flagship “Gears of War” build reportedly saw 30 million downloads within six months.

Omi explained his business model involved giving away the build for free to attract users, while other sellers profited by reselling Fire Sticks preloaded with his work. Later, he launched a subscription-based app called Reboot, offering dozens of channels and classic shows for $5–$8 monthly, growing quickly to nearly 100,000 users.

Despite Vlad’s criticism of content creators losing revenue, Omi argued his platform served those unable to afford cable and helped popularize digital streaming tiers before mainstream services existed. The interview highlighted ongoing tensions between piracy-driven hustles and legitimate content creators in today’s streaming landscape.
