Part 1: El Primo on Working for Infamous Chambers Brothers Drug Gang During Detroit Crack Era
--------
In a rare and revealing interview, Detroit-based drug dealer El Primo recounts how he first met infamous Sinaloa cartel leader Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. Their introduction came through cartel intermediaries who trusted El Primo to distribute premium cocaine bricks, known locally as “crowns.” After a tense market disruption caused by flooding the city with these bricks, El Primo was summoned to Durango. There, at a cartel gathering disguised as a “convention,” he finally came face-to-face with El Chapo.
El Primo describes the chilling atmosphere and the gravity of dealing directly with the cartel boss, who entrusted him with exclusive shipments. Despite the danger, El Primo was told he was the first Black man El Chapo had partnered with since the 1990s, emphasizing the significance of their business ties. El Chapo even tasked him with purchasing luxury items, underscoring the blend of power, trust, and intimidation that defined their relationship.
