Rapper Jap5 revealed the heartbreaking loss of his father, who was fatally stabbed on Jap5’s birthday in 2025. At the time, Jap5 was serving a prison sentence and missed his dad’s funeral due to his high custody classification, which prevented him from attending. The fatal incident stemmed from a gang-related altercation where Jap5’s father was stabbed in the groin and bled to death, despite not realizing his injury immediately. Although Jap5 remained in contact with his dad before the tragedy, coping from behind bars made the loss feel surreal. When asked about the person responsible, who has been arrested and is awaiting trial, Jap5 said he neither seeks revenge nor closure through punishment, emphasizing forgiveness and understanding instead. “I want to be forgiven for everything I’ve done, so I gotta forgive people,” he said, highlighting the complex emotions tied to grief, justice, and survival.
