Part 14: Aries Spears Tells Vlad "S*** My D***" After Being Called a Casual Hip Hop Fan
Part 1: Aries Spears: Iran War is MAGA's Fault, We Should Smack Everybody with a MAGA Hat

--------

Comedian Aries Spears recently addressed a provocative question during an interview about whether he would have performed in Sun City, South Africa, during the 1980s apartheid era. Spears, born in 1975, acknowledged his limited context about the situation at the time but firmly stated he wouldn’t have performed there. Vlad, the host, explained the historical backdrop: Sun City was a major entertainment venue where black audiences were barred due to apartheid laws, although some black artists did perform despite a cultural boycott. The discussion touched on the 1985 protest song “Sun City,” which featured prominent artists like Bono, Run-D.M.C., and Bob Dylan opposing performances in the segregated state. Spears noted the relatively limited influence of rap in the early ‘80s compared to later years and expressed skepticism about artists performing there primarily for financial reasons. Ultimately, Spears made clear that, given the choice, he would have stood against performing in apartheid South Africa.
