Discussing the shooting, Irving believes the officer’s gun discharge was accidental, triggered by heightened tension, rather than intentional. He noted the single shot was fired in a chaotic moment, and the fatality was unintended. While critical of the Capitol insurrection itself, Irving emphasized that Babbitt’s death was not justified, countering Vlad’s harsh stance. He reflected on the event as a tragic accident rather than a purposeful killing, urging a more measured perspective on the controversial incident.
