While initially approaching the incident with caution, Hughley ultimately concurred with Vlad’s blunt assessment that Babbitt “got what she deserved” for attempting to breach a secured Capitol area amid a violent mob.
Hughley highlighted the contrast between the treatment of Babbitt’s shooting and other cases involving law enforcement, pointing out the immediate medical response she received and the federal military honors she was posthumously reinstated with. He stressed that the officer who shot her was protecting elected officials from a dangerous threat and noted that, unlike some law enforcement shootings, this case warranted justifiable force.
Both agreed that while investigations are necessary in all such cases, Babbitt’s actions justified the use of force, a position that aligns with Vlad’s viral tweet that sparked widespread attention online.
