In a revealing interview, RJ Cipriani detailed the shocking story behind Troy Stratos, the con artist who swindled over $100 million from women worldwide—including Nicole Murphy, ex-wife of Eddie Murphy. After Eddie and Nicole’s divorce, Nicole received a $10 million settlement. Despite Eddie’s efforts to protect her by recommending his trusted accountant, Nicole chose to work with Troy Stratos (a pseudonym). Cipriani, who knows both the Murphys and was involved in confronting Stratos, explained how Troy gained Nicole’s trust, ultimately stealing her money and even valuable jewelry Eddie had given her.
Despite multiple warnings and a dossier prepared by Eddie’s legal team, Nicole fell for Troy’s elaborate scams, which included fake oil stock investments backed by top law firms to maintain a veneer of legitimacy. Stratos was eventually caught and sentenced to 21 years in prison. Cipriani praised Eddie’s efforts, noting he continued to support Nicole even after the losses, underscoring the dangers of entrusting large sums to unverified advisors.
