Former Lakers star Michael Cooper shared his early impressions of Michael Jordan entering the NBA and the Lakers’ eventual triumph over the Boston Celtics in the Finals. Cooper recalled initially finding a young Jordan manageable due to his own athleticism, but acknowledged that as Jordan matured, he became unstoppable. Cooper also reflected on the Lakers’ tough loss to the Celtics in the 1985 Finals, dubbed the "Memorial Day Massacre" blowout. Despite the defeat, coach Pat Riley’s tough love and detailed film sessions galvanized the team. That loss marked a turning point, fueling the Lakers’ determination. Cooper described how the Lakers finally defeated the Celtics, lifting a long-standing psychological burden and ending Boston’s intimidating dominance. This victory, Cooper noted, redefined the Lakers’ legacy and rivalry with the Celtics forever.
