In a recent interview, Michael Cooper recounted the memorable moment when Julius "Dr. J" Erving delivered his famed "Rock The Baby" dunk over him during the 1982 season. Cooper revealed his competitive mindset at the time, explaining how he attempted a dramatic block that unfortunately turned into a highlight for Dr. J. “If you’re going to get dunked on, it might as well be by the best,” Cooper said, calling it the greatest dunk in NBA history.
Looking back at the 1983 NBA Finals, Cooper admitted the road was tougher for the Lakers, swept 4-0 by Moses Malone-led Philadelphia 76ers. He praised Malone’s dominant performance and reflected on the team’s struggles to contain him. “That was a stinger... nothing you could do about it,” Cooper shared. Despite the loss, Cooper highlighted the fierce competitiveness that defined that era’s rivalry.
