Peezy discussed the city’s significant decline in violent crime and weighed in on former President Trump’s controversial deployment of the military to combat urban violence. Peezy emphasized the urgent need for order to protect vulnerable community members. While he didn’t explicitly endorse the military intervention, he acknowledged that it stems from a necessity to make neighborhoods safer. Peezy credited much of Detroit’s recent crime reduction to grassroots efforts like the Push Peace movement.
