Louis Ziskin served 12 years in federal prison for his involvement in an ecstasy operation, gaining release at age 43. After prison, he initially built spec homes before turning to technology entrepreneurship. Inspired by emerging FAA drone regulations, Ziskin developed DropIn, a platform enabling remote live-stream control of drones, initially targeting the insurance sector for inspections. The startup gained partnerships with Lyft and even Lloyd’s insurance market in London, positioning Ziskin as a notable figure in tech and rehabilitation. Despite early successes and a $22 million offer, the company’s growth surged during the COVID-19 pandemic as DropIn expanded into logistics for distributing medical supplies like masks and gloves. Ziskin’s unique background made business partnerships challenging, prompting him to bring in CEO Joseph Shemesh to lead the company.
