The long-standing tension between Atlanta rappers Young Thug and YFN Lucci has flared up again, with both artists trading insults on social media just days before the release of Thug’s upcoming album, UY Scuti, and YFN Lucci's ALREADY LEGEND.
On Monday (Sept. 22), Young Thug reignited their feud by taking a direct jab at Lucci while promoting his album. In a bold post to his Instagram Story, Thug wrote, “F*** @yfnlucci album UY SCUTI Friday,” explicitly tagging Lucci and making it clear his message was aimed at him.
Lucci quickly clapped back with a fiery response on his own Instagram Story, mocking Thug’s appearance while brushing off the diss. “ALBUM AINT NUN FOR A MILLION UGLY AHH MAN @thuggerthugger1 😂😂 #ALREADYLEGEND FRIDAY F*** BUDDY 🥶,” he wrote, referencing Thug by his Instagram handle.
Not one to back down, Young Thug fired back once more, keeping his reply short and sharp: “Soft ass n**** 😂.”
The exchange marks the latest chapter in the rappers’ turbulent relationship, which has been marked by public back-and-forths and tension dating back several years. While neither artist has provided additional context for the latest round of insults, the timing comes as Thug prepares to drop UY Scuti on Friday, September 26.
This will be Young Thug’s first full-length project since his release from prison in October 2024, following his high-profile RICO case connected to his YSL collective. The album has been heavily anticipated, with Thug recently generating buzz online after posting a photo of himself wearing a corset — a bold fashion statement that fans believe signals a creative return to form.
YFN Lucci, meanwhile, has been focused on his own music, building momentum with recent releases and maintaining his presence in Atlanta’s rap scene. His response to Thug’s diss suggests that their rivalry remains very much alive, even as both artists continue to move forward with their careers.
With UY Scuti and ALREADY LEGEND dropping this week, fans are closely watching to see if this feud escalates further — and whether either rapper will use their music to deliver the next blow.
