Floyd Mayweather may not be done with professional boxing just yet. The undefeated champion, who boasts a perfect 50-0 record, revealed that there have been talks about him stepping back into the ring for a sanctioned fight — even as he prepares for his upcoming exhibition bout against Mike Tyson.
During an interview on TMZ Sports, Mayweather, 48, left the door open for a potential comeback, though he stopped short of making any promises.
“There’s been talks. There’s been talks. It’s possible,” Mayweather said when asked about a full-fledged return to professional competition.
While Mayweather officially retired after his blockbuster victory over Conor McGregor in August 2017, he has stayed active through a series of high-profile exhibition matches. Over the past several years, he’s faced opponents like Logan Paul and John Gotti III, keeping his skills sharp and his name buzzing in the fight world.
For now, his focus is on the highly anticipated “Legend vs. Legend” match against Tyson, which is set to take place in early 2026. Mayweather admitted that training hasn’t ramped up yet, as the fight is still more than a year away.
“I’m not really training right now. The fight is in 2026. We’re still ironing out everything,” he explained. “But I’m pretty sure it’s going to be exciting for the people and the fans.”
The bout will bring together two of boxing’s biggest names, creating a global event that Mayweather believes will draw massive attention.
“I just want to give the fans what they want to see — excitement,” he said. “I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be an exciting event, and people from all around the world are gonna enjoy it.”
Whether Mayweather will risk his perfect record remains to be seen, but with talks already in motion, boxing fans may get the rare chance to witness the sport’s ultimate showman compete at the highest level once again.
