Peewee Roscoe, a longtime affiliate of YSL Records, has made it clear he’s cutting ties with the label and its artists. During a fiery Instagram Live session, Roscoe announced that YSL contracts are being ripped up and declared there will be “no resigning, no new deals” moving forward. His comments come amid a turbulent period for the Atlanta-based collective following the conclusion of Young Thug’s YSL RICO case, which ended earlier this year with multiple members taking plea deals.
In the clip, Roscoe called out rappers he believes are “buying streams” and relying on fake numbers rather than genuine street support. “They ain’t playing your s*** in the hood and Hollywood, man,” he said. “Your s*** is eliminated and contaminated… The real is back. Playtime over.” Roscoe went on to emphasize that YSL is no longer focused on signing or developing artists, saying the only “artist” he recognizes now is “Benjamin Franklin.”
The live stream also featured pointed remarks toward individuals he considers untrustworthy, using the word “rodent” as a clear reference to snitching. “If you cool with any type of rodent, I don’t want nothing to do with you,” Roscoe said, adding that he wishes those people well but wants them to “go talk with the prosecutor and the jury” they’ve been working with. His comments appear to be a thinly veiled response to lingering fallout from the YSL trial, where several affiliates struck deals with prosecutors, a move that sparked controversy and accusations of disloyalty.
Roscoe closed out his rant by making it clear that he’s moving forward independently and won’t be lured back by money or industry offers. “You can’t give me a hundred million to get in contact with me, man,” he said. “I wouldn’t piss on you if you was on fire.” With the YSL roster “being rewritten,” as Roscoe put it, his statements signal a major shift for the crew and leave fans speculating about what the future holds for the once-prominent label.
