A newly released documentary about Kanye West has sparked a wave of online reactions after a tense clip surfaced showing the rapper in a heated argument with his then-mother-in-law, Kris Jenner.

The footage, featured in In Whose Name?, captures West shouting at Jenner during a discussion about his bipolar disorder, with Jenner urging him to take medication to manage his mental health. West’s response was defiant and emotional, telling Jenner he would “rather be dead” than medicated.

In the clip, West accuses Jenner and the Kardashian family of contributing to his struggles. “Y’all demasculated me and made me feel like a piece of s***,” West says, adding, “And the only reason you got away with it is because I was medicated.”

Ye went on to confront Jenner over what he felt was a lack of accountability for a past hospitalization, saying, “No one from the family is taking any responsibility for my hospital visit, but if you wanna go online that’s 50 percent of what people say. At least. Am I lying?” Jenner, visibly upset, replied, “It doesn’t matter,” prompting West to scream back, “It does matter!” as their exchange grew more intense.

As the confrontation reached its peak, Jenner broke down in tears, admitting to West that she believed she had affected his mental health. “Yes. Yes. Yes. I’m saying yes. And I love you. I love you,” Jenner said through tears, adding, “I want my daughter [Kim Kardashian] to love you the way you want her to love you.”

West and Kardashian, who married in 2014 and share four children together — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm — finalized their divorce in 2022. The viral scene has reignited public conversation about the rapper’s past struggles with mental health and his tumultuous relationship with the Kardashian family.
