Comedian Mike Epps recently shared a story with streamer Kai Cenat about an unusual social media encounter that escalated far beyond what he expected.
Epps explained that early in his Instagram use, he began receiving hostile direct messages from someone claiming to be from Philadelphia. The messages, he said, sounded convincing enough to come from someone with street experience. Frustrated, Epps admitted he responded aggressively and even hired a private investigator to track down the person behind the account.
The investigation revealed a surprising twist: the account belonged to a 12-year-old boy from Pennsylvania. According to Epps, the boy’s mother later wrote him a letter of apology. The comedian said the child had studied his style and speech patterns closely, making his online persona sound authentic.
Epps recalled that the boy eventually admitted he was a fan. After initially insulting him, the child sent another message saying he “had love” for the comedian and simply wanted his attention. Reflecting on the incident, Epps said it showed how far some social media users will go to provoke a response.
