LeBron James has finally addressed the swirling rumors about his relationship with Drake, breaking months of silence during a recent interview with Speedy Morman. Speaking on 360 With Speedy, the four-time NBA champion acknowledged some distance between himself and the Toronto rapper while emphasizing there’s no bad blood.

“Always wish him the best,” James said. “Obviously, different places right now, currently. He’s doing his thing, I’m doing mine. But it’s always love for sure.”

The timing of LeBron’s comments is significant, as speculation about a rift between the two peaked during Drake’s highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar earlier this year. Fans began questioning LeBron’s loyalty after he was seen vibing to Lamar’s chart-topping diss track “Not Like Us,” a song filled with sharp shots at Drake. His public enjoyment of the record led many to wonder if he had chosen sides in a hip-hop battle that dominated headlines for weeks.

The drama deepened when Drake dropped his own track, “What Did I Miss?,” which featured cryptic bars that left listeners speculating about their target. One line, referencing someone who had “been down since Headlines,” was interpreted by many fans as a subtle dig at LeBron, fueling rumors of a falling-out between the longtime friends.

LeBron’s latest remarks, however, strike a calmer tone, suggesting there’s still mutual respect even as their once-close relationship evolves. This public reassurance comes after years of visible camaraderie. In 2023, Drake invited LeBron and his son Bronny on stage during a Los Angeles concert, a gesture that highlighted the deep ties between their families. Drake also famously wore Bronny’s AAU jersey in the music video for “Money In The Grave.”

Their bond stretches back even further. In 2009, LeBron attended Drake’s release party for So Far Gone, a moment Drake later described as pivotal to his rise. “A decade ago you came to my release party… and made me the biggest artist in the city off your presence alone,” Drake once wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. LeBron himself praised Drake on HBO’s The Shop in 2018, saying, “We’ve grown closer and closer every year and I’m proud of who he is today, not only as an artist, as a son, but as a father.”
