Part 5: Chris Whitcomb on Being Undercover Overseas vs. Being FBI Undercover Agent
Part 1: FBI Agent Chris Whitcomb on Dad's Co-Worker Killing FBI Asst. Director Who Led COINTELPRO

--------

Former FBI agent and interrogation expert Chris Whitcomb, who once trained interrogators, including those deployed at Guantanamo Bay, revealed which interrogation methods surpass waterboarding in severity. During his rigorous SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) training, Whitcomb experienced waterboarding firsthand, a technique designed to simulate drowning. However, he noted which psychological tactics used in captivity can inflict deeper, more lasting mental distress than waterboarding’s physical terror. Whitcomb’s extensive career included undercover work, hostage rescue, and teaching interrogation techniques to elite agencies. After leaving the FBI, he transitioned into media and reporting, notably becoming the first on-air journalist at Guantanamo Bay.
