Dave Blunts has officially announced that he’s no longer working with Kanye West, ending a creative partnership that had recently drawn major attention. The rapper and songwriter took to his Instagram Story to set the record straight after fans repeatedly asked about his involvement with Ye’s upcoming music.
“Stop asking me about YE music,” Blunts wrote. “I don’t work with dude anymore. I’m on my own path!”
The announcement comes just weeks after Ye publicly credited Blunts as the sole writer behind his unreleased album Cuck. In a clip that surfaced online earlier this summer, Blunts revealed that he had penned every lyric on the project. “Every song on that album… I wrote that s***, me,” he said, explaining that the project reflected “one man going between hurt, betrayal and pain and he’s putting that s*** down.” Kanye later confirmed the claim himself in a post on X, writing simply, “This is true.”
Blunts also appeared to address the fallout from his time with Ye in a cryptic Instagram photo with Ty Dolla $ign, Kanye’s frequent collaborator. The caption read:
“IN A PERFECT WORLD I would’ve never became a CUCK but at least it lead me to a TYCOON.”
The line appears to reference both Cuck, the album Blunts helped craft, and Ty Dolla $ign, hinting at a possible new partnership or project, while the exact nature of his split from Ye remains unclear.
