Young Thug is using music to address controversy. On Thursday, the Atlanta rapper released a new track, "Man I Miss My Dogs," in which he issues a series of public apologies and reflects on strained relationships. The song arrives just days after leaked jail phone calls sparked heated discussion online, with Thug speaking candidly about fellow artists and personal frustrations.

One of the most personal moments in the track comes as Thug addresses his longtime girlfriend, singer Mariah the Scientist. “Baby, I’m sorry. One of my biggest fears is losing you to the internet,” he raps, acknowledging the toll his legal troubles have taken on their relationship. He further admits regret for letting others disrespect her, saying, “I’m sorry for being a part of these hoes laughing at you… I’m the reason you crashing.”

The song also touches on Thug’s relationships with other artists. He notes that Lil Baby has not been answering his calls, a detail that quickly caught fans’ attention online. He also saluted Drake for visiting him in jail, calling him “my brother,” while hinting at behind-the-scenes efforts to reconcile Drake and producer Metro Boomin after their much-publicized falling-out last year. “Trying to get you, Metro, and Pluto [Future] on the same page,” he raps, suggesting he has been working toward mending relationships even while incarcerated.

Drake appeared to cosign the new release by liking Thug’s Instagram post that shared its lyrics. The post also confirmed the rapper’s upcoming album, UY SCUTI, will be released on September 19.

The release of "Man I Miss My Dogs" comes as Thug faces criticism over leaked jail calls, in which he made comments about Gunna, expressed frustrations with Drake, and insulted rapper GloRilla. After those remarks circulated, he apologized publicly on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “First of all I’m sorry to u for my words and I honestly don’t think ur ugly at all… I don’t like bashing girls and hardly ever did.”
