Young Thug is once again at the center of social media chaos after a series of his recorded jail calls leaked online, sparking speculation about the status of his relationship with singer Mariah The Scientist. Over the past week, clips of the Atlanta rapper’s private phone conversations have been surfacing and quickly going viral. In the calls, Thug can be heard name-dropping major artists like Gunna, Future, Drake, and GloRilla, but the real controversy came when he appeared to admit to cheating. In one call, he tried to explain away a photo of a woman at his condo by claiming it was old, only for it to later be revealed that the picture had been taken just days before his May 9, 2022 arrest.
Another leaked call only added fuel to the fire. In the clip, Thug can be heard telling an unidentified woman that he loves her and asking when she planned to have kids. Her response — “When he comes home” — immediately set the internet ablaze, with many fans believing the conversation confirmed infidelity. Amid the mounting drama, Thug took to X (formerly Twitter) on September 7 to post a cryptic message: “Chapter ended ✨❤️.” Fans immediately connected the dots and speculated that his relationship with Mariah was over.
Mariah appeared to respond indirectly through an Instagram Story shortly after Thug’s post. She shared lyrics from her new album Hearts Sold Separately, specifically from the song “Rainy Days,” which included the lines: “I was naive, not ignorant. So much for my innocence now. Love me, leave me, let me down. I put forth an open heart and I’ve been hurt. Looking back in retrospect, that ain’t what I deserve.” The emotional lyrics left many convinced she was speaking about her own heartbreak and disappointment with Thug.
Before Mariah’s post, Thug had already attempted to take accountability publicly. In a heartfelt message, he apologized directly to her while asking fans to stop dragging her into the controversy. “My baby I was wrong and I’m sorry for what I put u through. U deserved better from me. Thank you for everything and I will do anything to make this work. U showed me what love is and I hope I haven’t lost u forever… everybody leave her out of this please she’s an innocent girl and feels bad about all of this. Please give her peace,” he wrote.
