Fat Joe is celebrating a major milestone for his close friend and collaborator, French Montana. During a recent episode of his podcast with co-host Jadakiss, the Bronx rap legend congratulated French on his engagement to a real-life princess from Dubai — and he didn’t hold back his excitement.
“Congratulations to my brother French. He did his big one,” Fat Joe said proudly. “Engaged to the princess of Dubai. The real princess of Dubai, not the fake one.” Joe went on to explain that in his experience, he’s met plenty of wealthy men who claim to be royalty, but this time, there’s no pretending. French Montana’s fiancée, Dubai Princess Sheikha Mahra, is a member of Dubai’s actual royal family.
While overjoyed for his friend, Fat Joe also jokingly warned French to treat his future wife right. “Don’t mess up,” he said with a laugh. “Or we going to find you in Sudan. The Sudan is where they’re not coming to rescue you.” Joe’s humor underscored just how serious the union is, while keeping the moment lighthearted and celebratory.
Fat Joe also took a moment to reflect on his longstanding bond with French Montana, revealing how he played a key role in the rapper’s early career. “Nobody loves French Montana more than me,” Joe said. “I got his first song to play on Hot 97 with Funk Flex. Nobody wanted to play his song — they were blocking him. Look at his documentary, he gives me the credit.”
French Montana, who was raised in the Bronx and went on to achieve global success, now finds himself stepping into royalty with his engagement.
