NBA YoungBoy is making headlines in Dallas for more than just music as he gears up for his first-ever solo tour. Ahead of his two-night stop at the American Airlines Center, the rapper donated $50,000 to two local nonprofits dedicated to reducing violent crime.
The Baton Rouge star split the donation between Manifest Freedom, which supports entrepreneurs impacted by the criminal justice system, and Urban Specialist, an organization working directly with communities to curb gang violence. Speaking on his motivation, NBA YoungBoy explained that too many people are getting hurt and he wanted to use his platform to do something meaningful: “It ain’t really cool at this point to me. So, I just want to help in any way I could.”
Leaders from both organizations praised the gesture, noting the importance of a major artist investing in solutions to issues that hit close to home for many fans. They said his donation reflects a message of redemption and transformation—reminding young people who relate to his struggles that there are opportunities to make a pivot and choose a different path.
The donation comes just months after NBA YoungBoy was pardoned by former President Donald Trump for a two-year gun-related sentence, marking another chapter in the rapper’s turbulent but evolving story.
