Shilo Sanders, son of NFL Hall of Famer and Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders, broke his silence after being waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In a candid YouTube video, Shilo shared his gratitude for the opportunity and his faith that this moment is simply another step in his journey.
“I got waived by the Buccaneers,” Shilo said, before quickly grounding the news in perspective. “First and foremost, I believe in God and I know God always got a plan for me. Regardless of anything that's ever happened to me, I've always came out on top.” The 24-year-old safety emphasized that he sees this setback as part of his story and an opportunity for growth, whether that means landing with another NFL team or pursuing other ventures.
Despite the disappointment, Sanders spoke warmly about his experience in Tampa. He praised the city, teammates, and coaches for their support and described his time with the franchise as “nothing but great.” Shilo also reflected on the uncertainty of life in professional football, pointing out that the NFL is often called the “Not For Long” league. He stressed the importance of having passions outside of the game, sharing that he has long pursued interests in music, acting, and modeling.
For now, Shilo is staying in shape and awaiting the next opportunity, remaining optimistic about what’s ahead. “The NFL is uncertain, but I truly believe God’s got a big plan for me,” he said. “I appreciate y’all for all the love and support… I just wanted to make this video to let y’all know everything’s great, and I’ll be ready for anything.”
