Young Thug is once again in the middle of controversy as the YSL RICO case continues to dominate conversation. A resurfaced two-hour police interrogation video from about two years ago shows Thug mentioning Peewee Roscoe, the man accused of allegedly shooting up Lil Wayne’s tour bus in 2015.

The clip reignited accusations that Thug was cooperating with authorities, though he quickly fired back online, insisting that he did nothing to harm his affiliates. “They didn’t play my interrogation video in court cause I helped my brada #Ratwhere?” he tweeted. Even as outsiders accused him of ratting, Peewee himself defended Thug, saying he actually tried to protect him.

In the midst of this, Thug shifted focus to his older brother, Unfoonk, who took a plea deal during the trial. Thug admitted that he was the one who encouraged his brother to accept the deal, explaining that after Unfoonk had already served over a decade in prison, he didn’t want their mother to go through that pain again. “My brother would’ve [rode] the whole trip out but when them guys took the plea I told my brada to take it too, n**** had just did 12 years and ain wanna put my mama thru that again #freeunfoonk,” he wrote. Despite that reasoning, Unfoonk ended up back behind bars in 2023 after violating probation when he was caught with a firearm, and is now serving another nine years.

Thug also took a moment to defend YSL Duke, insisting, “Duke did nothing wrong on this case.” But the acknowledgment of his brother’s plea deal has raised uncomfortable comparisons with Gunna, who accepted the same type of arrangement. Thug has previously dropped subliminal shots that suggested Gunna’s deal made him a “rat,” but fans were quick to point out the contradiction. “Free Unfoonk but he took the same deal Gunna did which you called him a rat. Make up your mind,” one person tweeted.
