Mr. Vegas opened up about the creation and legacy of his 2004 hit "Pull Up," explaining how his version of the "Coolie Dance" beat became a foundational sound in early 2000s dancehall and beyond. Notably, Nina Sky’s smash track "Move Ya Body," as well as remixes like Kelis’s "Milkshake," used the same beat, all stemming from Vegas’s original master recording. He also discussed how Pitbull and Lil Jon’s "Culo" sampled "Pull Up," which both elevated the beat’s reach and impacted his own radio success. Despite owning the beat’s master, Vegas lamented being blacklisted in Jamaica at the time, preventing his original from airing locally. Reflecting on the influence of his work, he noted how the beat’s distinct bassline shaped numerous hits, cementing his mark on the global dancehall and hip-hop scenes.
