Hernandez Govan opened up about the January 2024 killing of Big Jook. Jook was fatally shot outside an event center after a funeral repass, with his mother nearby. Govan expressed sorrow over losing a longtime acquaintance and suggested that while the streets know who is responsible, police appear reluctant to act on that knowledge. Despite the case remaining officially open, no arrests have been made. Govan also addressed discrepancies in the prosecution’s approach, noting that while he faced charges related to the murder, Big Jook—although implicated—was never charged. He speculates this may be due to differences in resources and public profiles.
