Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Travis Hunter has added a brand-new title to his résumé: fatherhood. The 22-year-old NFL rookie and his wife, Leanna Lenee, announced the arrival of their baby boy in a heartfelt YouTube video titled “Dear Son…” on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
The nearly three-minute clip takes viewers on a journey from the couple’s early discovery of the pregnancy to the emotional delivery room moment. It opens with intimate, lighthearted footage of Hunter and Lenee in their bathroom, capturing their joy as a Clearblue pregnancy test confirmed they were expecting. From dancing with excitement to showing off the first ultrasound printout, the pair didn’t hold back on sharing their happiness.
One especially touching detail included Lenee recalling a dream she had back in February, predicting they would welcome a boy “with lots and lots of curly hair.” She even documented the dream in her phone, later telling viewers with a smile, “I knew it was gonna be a boy.”
The video also weaves in glimpses of their everyday life — from Hunter brushing his teeth while Lenee teased him to “say hi to the baby,” to clips from the NFL Draft, where the former Heisman Trophy winner reflected on the kind of role model he hopes to be. Smiling at the camera, he shared a hope that his son might one day follow in his footsteps: “You ‘gon get drafted to Jacksonville.” Later, when asked for a message to his unborn child, Hunter’s words were simple but powerful: “You gotta be better than me.”
The couple, who tied the knot in May at The Barn at Faith Farms in Tennessee, had kept the pregnancy private until now. The video ends with the emotional moment in the delivery room, where audio captured nurses encouraging Lenee as she gave birth. The newborn’s first cries filled the room, prompting Hunter to laugh and say, “That baby look just like me!” before praising his wife: “You did good.”
Hunter and Lenee’s relationship has faced scrutiny in the past, with some fans questioning her intentions during his college career. The NFL star didn’t shy away from defending her, making it clear where he stands. “Y’all hate on me and then y’all go hate on my girl. I feel the same pain that she feel,” he said during a Twitch stream last December. “We’re inseparable… If she hurting, of course I’m going to be hurting.”
