Alix Lapri, the actress best known for her role as Effie in Starz’s hit crime drama Power and its spinoff Power Book II: Ghost, is facing legal trouble after being arrested in Georgia last week on a child cruelty charge.

According to DeKalb County jail records, Lapri—whose full name is Alexus Lapri Geier—was booked on August 18 just before 5 p.m. and charged with one count of cruelty to children in the third degree and one count of disorderly conduct. She spent just over 24 hours behind bars before being released the following day. Details regarding her release conditions have not yet been made public.

The circumstances leading to Lapri’s arrest remain unclear. Jail records list August 10 as the date of the incident, but authorities have not released further details. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has not responded to media requests for additional information, and representatives for Lapri have not issued a statement. It is also not yet known whether she has retained legal counsel.

Lapri rose to fame in 2019 after portraying Effie Morales in Power, appearing in four episodes of the final season before reprising her role in Power Book II: Ghost, which ran from 2020 through 2024. The Atlanta-born actress has also appeared on the big screen, playing Maloa in the 2018 action thriller Den of Thieves alongside Gerard Butler and 50 Cent.

With the case still developing, fans are awaiting clarity on the charges and what this means for the rising star’s career.
