Momodu Gondo, a former Baltimore Police detective, shared his harrowing experience of being shot just two months after graduating from the police academy. Coming from a supportive middle-class Sierra Leonean family that valued education, Gondo initially pursued higher education before secretly joining the Baltimore Police Department, eager for independence. During a grueling double shift, Gondo was physically exhausted but still on patrol when an incident led to him being shot. Despite identifying his shooter, the individual was found not guilty—an outcome that shocked Gondo.
