Tony Rock isn’t letting the infamous Oscars slap fade quietly into history. During a recent stand-up performance, the comedian once again referenced his brother Chris Rock’s on-stage altercation with Will Smith, weaving it into an exchange with audience members that had the entire room erupting in laughter.
In a video clip from the set, Tony was interacting with a man in the crowd who said he was at the show to celebrate his wife’s birthday. After being introduced to the man’s family members, Tony playfully asked, “What you want, a fight, motherf***a?” The fan played along by standing up and removing his glasses, to which Tony quickly fired back: “You better sit your a** down, I ain’t Chris, motherf***a!”* The crowd roared with cheers as Tony high-fived fans in the front row.
The joke, of course, was rooted in the 2022 Academy Awards, when Will Smith walked onstage and slapped Chris Rock after the comedian made a “G.I. Jane” joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. Smith’s outburst shocked the world and overshadowed the rest of the ceremony. Chris, who remained composed and continued with his presentation, has mostly avoided direct commentary on the incident, but his brother Tony has turned it into comedic fuel.
This wasn’t Tony’s first time revisiting the moment. Back in March 2025, during a performance at the Funny Bone in Virginia Beach, he joked that getting back at Will Smith was still on his “to-do list.” “Y’all thought that sht was over? That s*** ain’t f***ing over. I’m just laying low right now,” he told the audience, making it clear he hadn’t forgotten. He also recalled his first conversation with Chris after the Oscars, comparing his brother’s calm reaction to a “lawn jockey” and joking that if he had been present, the show “would have gone to commercial and never came back.”
