“Old Town Road” rapper Lil Nas X was taken into custody early Thursday morning after a chaotic encounter with Los Angeles police, following reports that he was walking nearly naked in the middle of the street.

According to the LAPD, officers responded to Ventura Boulevard in Studio City around 6 a.m. after receiving multiple calls about a man wandering in only his underwear. When officers arrived, police say the man—later identified as 25-year-old Montero Lamar Hill, better known as Lil Nas X—charged at them. During the scuffle, Hill allegedly punched one officer twice in the face before being subdued. He was then transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and formally arrested on charges of Battery on a Police Officer.

Videos obtained by TMZ show the Grammy-winning artist strutting down the boulevard in nothing but white briefs and cowboy boots, at times treating the moment like a runway walk. In one clip, Hill tells a driver to “come to the party,” while in another he warns, “Didn’t I tell you to put the phone down?” At one point, he even placed an orange traffic cone on his head while posing for onlookers.

Authorities say they are still investigating whether substances or a mental health episode played a role in the incident. Booking records were not immediately available in Los Angeles County, and Hill’s representatives have yet to release a statement.
