Jim Jones has officially stepped into the podcasting world, and his debut episode is already stirring major conversation. The former Dipset rapper launched Artist 2 Artist on YouTube this week, with Brooklyn drill star Fivio Foreign as his very first guest. While the episode drew strong engagement, it’s what Fivio had to say about hip-hop legend Nas that has people talking.
In a clip circulating online, Fivio attempted to clarify his stance on Nas while speaking on his own upbringing in New York rap culture. “I grew up with n****s like Sosa, Gino. And I’m not saying that the man [Nas] is wack, he’s not legend,” Fivio said. “He’s been out for years, I got a song with the n**** and I got a song on the album and the album got a Grammy. But I can’t sit there and say a Nas bar to you or a song.” The rapper did acknowledge one Nas classic he enjoys—"One Mic"—but the admission wasn’t enough to shield him from criticism.
Nas wasn’t the only subject that sparked backlash during the episode. Fivio also shared his thoughts on the streaming world, suggesting that creators only thrive based on who they collaborate with. “It’s the streamer that’s lit, they [fans] like the platform,” he said. “People don’t really like the individual.” He doubled down by revisiting his beef with streamer PlaqueBoyMax.
