The legal battle between Fat Joe and his former hype man Terrance “T.A.” Dixon has taken another turn, with Roc Nation now pushing back against claims that it helped the Bronx rapper withhold money and engage in alleged misconduct.
Dixon, who filed a $20 million lawsuit earlier this summer, accused Fat Joe of a range of disturbing behavior — from financial fraud to abuse, threats, and even alleged sexual relations with minors. In his complaint, Dixon also named Roc Nation, alleging that Jay-Z’s company enabled Joe and played a role in withholding payments.
Fat Joe has vehemently denied all of the accusations, calling them “disgusting lies.” But Roc Nation’s lawyers are going on the offensive, urging a federal judge to dismiss the case altogether.
According to AllHipHop, Roc Nation claims the lawsuit is nothing more than a “fake shakedown” designed to defame the company and pressure a settlement. The label also accused Dixon’s attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, of misconduct and is asking the court not only to dismiss the suit but to sanction him.
In a surprising twist, Roc Nation alleges that Blackburn himself may have undermined his client’s case. The company says the attorney admitted in an email that Fat Joe may have defrauded Roc Nation too — a message that reportedly surfaced just hours after the motion to dismiss was filed. Roc Nation argues this contradicts Dixon’s original complaint and proves that the company was dragged into the lawsuit unnecessarily.
“This lawsuit was meant to harass and embarrass Roc Nation on the public stage,” the label’s legal team argued, according to reports.
Blackburn has reportedly not addressed the email in court filings, which Roc Nation claims further validates its position.
For now, Roc Nation wants the judge to dismiss the case with prejudice — preventing Dixon from refiling — while also covering their legal fees and potentially sanctioning Blackburn for his handling of the lawsuit.
