Philly rapper Skrilla found himself in handcuffs over the weekend after what started as a lighthearted music video shoot in Kensington took an unexpected turn.

Footage captured by local YouTuber "The Philly Captain" shows Skrilla and his crew filming scenes for the video, laughing, dancing, and engaging with the crowd. At one point, the rapper is seen firing what looked like a toy water gun into the audience.

But moments later, the fun ended. Police officers moved in, surrounding Skrilla and questioning him before detaining him and escorting him to a squad car.

The issue? That water gun wasn’t just a toy. According to the person behind the camera, it was a gel blaster — a type of water gun that shoots small gel pellets, sometimes branded as Orbeez. Despite their popularity, gel blasters are considered prohibited under Philadelphia’s weapons ordinance.

Section 10-810 of the Philadelphia Code bans the sale and public use of “water pistols” and similar imitation weapons, a rule that city officials interpret to include gel pellet guns. While often marketed as harmless toys, the city has classified them as dangerous devices, citing risks of injury and confusion in public settings.
