Kevin Gates recently sat down with streamers Zias and B.Lou to promote his new project, Luca Brasi 4. During the livestream, a fan asked the rapper why he and Brittany Renner split, sparking a rare response about his private life.
“Who I love, I don’t discuss,” Gates replied, shutting down the question without elaborating.
This isn’t the first time Gates has taken that stance. When asked about Brittany at the BET Awards earlier this summer—where she revealed the two were divorced after just 52 days of marriage—Gates offered nearly the same response. Speaking to The Shade Room, he said, “Oh, who I love, I don’t discuss. But I wish her the best. Who I love, I don’t discuss. But God bless her. Yeah, I wish her the best.”
Renner, meanwhile, has been more open about the short-lived marriage. In an interview with Bootleg Kev, she confirmed the divorce and explained why she doesn’t regret the decision.
“Honestly, it’s like, I don’t think anybody gets married to not stay married,” Renner shared. “My biggest thing for me is just a nice reset, just focusing on myself and pouring into myself. I followed my heart, and that’s more than what most people can say in this world. And I have no shame in that. That’s why I’m here.”
While Renner has chosen transparency, Gates has made it clear that when it comes to matters of the heart, his silence speaks louder than words.
