Former NBA guard Sebastian Telfair weighed in on the ongoing discussions around the so-called "Adidas Curse," especially following Damian Lillard’s recent Achilles injury. While acknowledging Adidas’ string of misfortunes with some endorsed players, Telfair emphasized that it’s more about bad luck than any actual curse linked to the brand. Adidas has had notable athletes with ups and downs, but Telfair insists it doesn’t reflect on the individuals but rather unfortunate circumstances.
Telfair also reminisced about his own endorsement journey, initially signed with Nike before moving to Adidas in high school. When asked about college NIL deals, he shared that his motivation was purely to play in the NBA rather than chase money or endorsements. On other NBA topics, Telfair predicted the Oklahoma City Thunder’s strong potential this season but expressed hope that the New York Knicks could secure a key addition to contend for a championship.
